‘THE HIRING FAIR’ is the next talk in Maghera Historical Society’s programme of events. This talk will discuss and elaborate on the hiring fair and it’s place in the history of our society. Our town is set in a rural area and naturally, after the religious significance of early Maghera, agriculture came next in importance and, as such, played a huge part in our town’s early fortunes. This talk by Roy Hamilton is based on first hand memories and pictures of people hired to work on farms in times past and should be both an interesting and thought provoking event.
This event is TONIGHT, Friday the 23rd October 2015, at 7.30pm in the new Maghera Historical Society Heritage and Cultural Centre, 17 Coleraine Road, Maghera, BT46 5BN. So why not come long, show your support for the society and learn something new about something old!
Everyone is welcome! We’d love to see you!
Admission is £5, but as always our members and children have free admission.
