To celebrate the opening of the Maghera Heritage and Cultural Centre, Maghera Historical Society are hosting a Vintage parade through the town as part of the free opening celebrations. We’ll have Clydesdale and working horses leading the parade around Maghera, followed by vintage cars, tractors, bicycles and lorries to continue the theme of historical transport throught the ages in our town. Not only that, we want to celebrate the history of our town and we’ll have demonstrations of Butter making, Scutching of flax and spinning too, plus other traditional home crafts. And to get everyone in the mood, there will be music permormed by local artists. Added to that the fact that it will be Hallowe’en, our Chariman, Mr. Joseph McCoy, will be leading us all on his famous Haunted History tour around the town at 6pm (cost £2 per head.. attached to your body or not.. Mwhahahaha! 😉 ). Afterwards, We can all look forward to Mid Ulster District Council’s firework display! So why not come and experience a bit of craic at the Maghera Heritage and Cultural Centre, see some cool things, learn a few new things about old things, and enjoy the Haunted walk and fireworks.
